2026 Preseason Preview Top 20 NFL QB Power Rankings

 1. Matthew Stafford LAR

It should not come with any doubt that the MVP is the first ranked QB. He is in his 18th season, 6th with Sean McVay. I have a feeling that if he can reproduce what the Rams did last season, they are going to be tough to beat at any time especially now with their defense adding Myles Garrett.

2. Josh Allen BUF

This is a prove it year for Josh Allen. (How many times have we said that?) It almost feels like they need to win the Super Bowl or even the AFC Championship for this season to feel like a success. The window is open but who knows for how long. New coach and but still the same voice in Joe Brady. New stadium as well and a ton of prime time games this season, I expect to see a ton of Josh Allen highlights.

3. Patrick Mahomes KC

Coming off an ACL tear and returning even healthier and stronger is pretty routine it feels like in the NFL and even pro sports. I expect nothing less than that for Patrick Mahomes and expect him to ascend back to the top of the NFL. It might take some time but there is no panic in KC.

4. Lamar Jackson BAL

Lamar is in the same boat as Josh Allen. It feels like one of these guys needs to take that next step. I have high hopes for Lamar and the BAL offense with new OC Declan Doyle coming from the Ben Johnson tree. I am excited to see what Lamar is going to cook up this season.

5. Caleb Williams CHI

This is year 2 under Ben Johnson and year 3 in the NFL for Caleb Williams. It took him a few weeks to get going and get a handle on the offense last year but with a full offseason he should expect to really turn some heads. MVP Season loading...?

6. Drake Maye NE

Drake "Drake Maye" Maye might seem a bit too low here for coming in second for the MVP race however he did so against a historically easy strength of schedule last year. That being said he still has to throw the ball but he is going to face much better competition this year with a first place schedule and deal with the Mike and Diana fallout.

7. Bo Nix DEN

Coming off of a broken ankle is not an easy thing to do. Bo Nix is very dangerous with his legs and if this is limited in terms of the offensive game plan he is going to need to be surgical. He had the most pass attempts out of any QB last year which could inflate his numbers but use your eyes with Bo Nix, he looks GOOD.

8. Jordan Love GB

Jordan Loves stats are insane. He is statistically one of the best QBs in the NFL at this current moment based off of EPA+ and other metrics. He cant melt down and take a delay of game after a timeout on the road in a Wildcard game and piss the 21-3 lead down his pants. Other than that he is a serviceable QB.

9. Dak Prescott DAL

Dak is a good QB but like most of these guys he needs to show it in the playoffs, not on a Monday night at NYG where he throws for 400+ yards and 3 TDs. Its time to earn your money Dak and he knows it too.

10. Sam Darnold SEA

I like Sam Darnold but he honestly probably has the worst PR manager in the sport. Have you seen him these last two years? 2 QBs in he history of the NFL have recorded 2 consecutive 14+ win seasons back to back. Tom Brady and Sam Darnold. So why is he ranked 10th? And why does this seem like a good place to put him?

11. Joe Burrow CIN

Joe Burrow needs to request a trade. One of the best pocket passers in the game right now but this Bengals outfit stinks! Maybe just a change of scenery or something but with bad ownership in CIN, I do not see him jumping up this year much.

12. Brock Purdy SF

Brock Purdy is like Sam Darnold. Just wins and makes the right decision in the pocket. He has an excellent coach but bad PR, he should be much higher due to his post season success but has the stink of the playoff failures. But hey, you cant lose the big game if you didn't make it to the big game.

13. Jalen Hurts PHI

Jalen is a fantasy football beast but this is mostly due to a football play that is going to be banned within the next few years and actually cant be officiated properly. In the pocket with time and an open receiver he can make the throw. Last year was tough with AJ Brown but hopefully with some dysfunction out of the room they can click.

14. Trevor Lawrence JAX

TLaw is a good serviceable QB but i honestly do not know if he is ever good enough to win a Super Bowl. Just gonna say it. No reason why I just have not seen enough from him. Liam Coen could change that in year two but I still need to see more.

15. Jayden Daniels WAS

Health needs to be of the utmost importance for Jayden Daniels and the Washington franchise. When healthy JD5 is dominant but if he isnt on the field, the offense isnt the same. Needs to take less hits and protect himself. He is good for the game and would like to see him in the NFL for a long time

16. Baker Mayfield TB

When Baker is hot, he's one of the best in the game, almost an MVP front runner for the early half of last season. But, when the offense is dysfunctional, the Bucs dont look too good.

17. Jared Goff DET

This whole offense, not just Jared Goff, misses Ben Johnson. With him they were so dominant and last year they had to make a change twice at OC. It will be up to them to make sure Ben wasnt the main reason this team performed so well.

18. Justin Herbert LAC

I think Herbert could have a breakout year this year with Mike McDaniel as OC. He had Tua and the offense humming for a bit and I think Herbert is a much better QB and the Chargers are a much better team.

19. C.J. Stroud HOU

This is a contract year for CJ Stroud. Would yo pay him 60 Million Dollars for 5 years? Thats 10 million per interception in the AFC divisional. Gonna need to see more.

20. Daniel Jones IND

Coming off of bilateral leg injuries isnt easy. He was a candidate for MVP during that 8 game start to the season. Id like to see that Daniel Jones vs the one we saw in NYG for the start of his career.
